You can browse without telling us anything
There are no accounts, no sign-up and no newsletter. Reading pages and copying codes does not require you to give us any personal information.
Information we do handle
Messages you send
If you use the contact form, we keep your name, email address, subject and message. We also record the IP address and browser details the message came from and when it was sent, which we use only to detect spam and misuse of the form.
Server logs
Like most websites, our hosting records basic request logs: IP address, the page requested, the referring page, browser details and the time. These help keep the site secure and working.
Page counts
Each brand page keeps a simple running total of views. It is a single number and is not linked to you in any way.
Cookies
We use one essential session cookie, which protects the contact form and keeps administrators logged in. It is removed when you close your browser. There are no tracking or advertising cookies. See the cookie policy for details.
Retailer websites
When you follow a link to a retailer, you are subject to that retailer's own privacy and cookie policies. Please read them before you share personal details or buy anything.
Our reasons for using this information
- Contact messages: to reply to you, because you asked us to.
- IP address and browser details on messages: our legitimate interest in stopping spam and abuse.
- Server logs: our legitimate interest in running a secure, reliable website.
Sharing
We do not sell or rent personal information. Our hosting provider stores it for us, and we would disclose it only if we were legally required to.
Retention
- Contact messages are deleted after no more than 24 months.
- Records of failed admin sign-in attempts are kept for 7 days.
- Server logs are kept for the period our host sets, usually no more than 30 days.
Your choices and rights
Depending on the law where you live, you may be able to ask for a copy of your information, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its use, or complain to a data protection authority. To make a request, email hello@example.com. We do not charge for this.
Children
This site is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If a child has contacted us, let us know and we will delete the message.
How we protect it
Form input is validated on the server, database queries use prepared statements, and administrator passwords are stored as one-way hashes. We never ask visitors for payment details or passwords. No system is completely secure, but we keep what we hold to a minimum.
