What the badge means
| What you see on a card | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Source-verified | The offer is recorded in the dated source export it was imported from, and was matched against it. It is not a test checkout, and it is not a promise the offer still works today. |
| Checked on a date | The day the offer was last matched against a source. The older the date, the more likely something has changed. |
| No badge | Nothing on the site currently shows this. An offer we cannot match to a source is not published at all, rather than published without a badge. |
What a check involves
- Read the offer as the retailer states it. The code, the size of the discount, and who it is for.
- Look for the catches. Minimum spend, first-order or app-only rules, excluded items, and end dates.
- Visit the retailer. Where it is practical, we compare what the retailer shows with what the card says.
- Write the card plainly. The saving goes on the card as stated, without rounding up the best case.
- Record the date. The checked date is set when the review happens, and the brand page's updated date moves with it.
What we cannot check
We cannot see your account history, your delivery address or what is in your basket, and many discounts depend on exactly those things. A code can be perfectly valid and still be refused because you have used it before or because an item in your basket is excluded.
Your own two-second check
Apply the code, then look at the order total before you pay. If the saving is not there, the retailer's checkout has the final word, whatever any coupon site says.
Common questions
Not necessarily. Source-verified tells you the offer is recorded in the dated source we imported it from, and the checked date tells you when that match was made. It is not a test checkout. After that date the retailer can end the offer early, cap how many people use it, or limit it to certain accounts, locations or products, so treat the date as a guide to how fresh the information is and look at your basket total before you pay.
Every offer on the site now does, because every one of them was imported from a dated source export and matched against it. The badge therefore tells you the same thing on every brand page rather than appearing on some and not others. What varies is the checked date, and an older date is the thing worth paying attention to.
Offers are gathered from retailer promotions, reader submissions and other public sources, then imported through our admin system against a dated export. An offer that cannot be matched to a source is not published.
Once we know, it is updated, marked expired, switched off or deleted. A report through the contact page is usually what prompts that check.
Tell us when something is off
Send the brand, the code and what happened at checkout through the contact page. That is usually all we need to recheck it.
